Air in a jar - science experiment

I really like this book that we checked out at the library on science experiments with gases.

The experiment is easy.  Stuff a paper towel into the end of a jar.

Fill a bowl with water and place jar upside down in the bowl.  The water line is above the line of the paper towel, but when you pull the jar out the paper towel is dry.

Lillie checked the inside of the jar to see that the paper towel was dry. We talked about the air being in the jar, pushing the water down.

Here is a list of the Linky parties that I link up to.  Thank you to all of the hosts for letting me post my favorite recipes, crafts, money saving ideas and activities for children.
