Before we start, I wanted to share this with you, if you are just starting to learn about essential oils:

Usage: You can use Young Living essential oils directly on the skin, inhalation or internally. Always read the label on the bottle or there are lots of books on how to properly use the oil. You can also use essential oils for household use, cleaning, and beauty products. We have made wool dryer balls and eliminated the need for fabric softener and reduced our drying time. You can also make great gifts and pamper yourself and friends with body butters, sugar scrubs and lip balms made with essential oils.

If you have a baby, toddlers, if you are nursing or pregnant I would recommend that you research which oils are ok to use. There are books available from Life Science Publishers to help you research. I would also recommend that you dilute essential oils with a carrier oil for children. A carrier oil is Coconut, almond, olive or V-6 vegetable oil. Young Living Essential Oils are 100% pure and need to be diluted.

Precautions: Never place essential oils in your eyes, ears or sensitive areas.

The reason I chose Young Living as our provider of essential oils is because of their “Seed to Seal” process. Young Living owns their own farms, they test all their products internally and by an external 3rd party. They use essential oils for pesticides and their weed control is done by hand.
Here is a video on the seed to seal process:

First many of these sprays start with the following base spray recipe and then I add essential oils to complete the spray.

Ingredients:
1 oz. glass or metal spray bottle
Witch Hazel
Distilled or filtered water
Essential Oils (See recipes on the following posts.)
Small Funnel (optional)
Add essential oils to spray bottle.  Fill the bottle halfway up with Witch Hazel.  Fill the remainder of the bottle with water.  Shake sprays before use.
I recommend that your store your oils in metal or amber glass bottles. You can use HDPE plastic bottle for some oil recipes. You definitely want to use glass bottle for citrus oils.

Many essential oils can be used in the garden to deter pests. Here are a few of the oils and the insects that you can use them for.

Ant Spray:
1 oz. glass or metal spray bottle
Witch Hazel
Distilled or filtered water
Essential Oils
Small Funnel (optional)
Add 3 drops Peppermint, 3 drops Purification to spray bottle.
Fill the bottle halfway up with Witch Hazel.  Fill the remainder of the bottle with water.  Shake spray before use.
Also, spiders do not like peppermint. You can dilute peppermint in a spray bottle and spray the doorways and windows of your home to prevent spiders from entering your house.

Camping Spray: Enjoy the outdoors annoyance free. Citronella is a member of the lemongrass family and is used topically to help enjoy the outdoors annoyance free. Citronella and lemongrass are both in purification.
